Webinar Logistics Efficiency

Orcoda hosted a highly successful webinar yesterday, “The Real Cost of Operational Efficiency and What the Best-Run Logistics Teams Are Doing Differently,” drawing a significant audience from across the transport and logistics industry. The session provided valuable insights into navigating today’s operational challenges and leveraging technology for greater efficiency.

The webinar, led by Orcoda’s Head of Transport Technology, Simon Anthonisz, delved into the pressing issues facing the industry, from rising asset costs to the complexities of manual scheduling and the push towards sustainability. A key highlight was an interview with Adam Woods, National PUD and Business Improvement Leader at Northline, who shared his company’s 20-year journey towards operational excellence and innovation.

Key Challenges and Industry Focus

During the live session, attendees participated in polls that underscored the industry’s current landscape:

  • 50% of participants identified rising fuel and asset costs as their biggest operational challenge.
  • 25% pointed to manual scheduling and paperwork, and another 25% highlighted meeting sustainability targets as significant hurdles.

When asked about their key focus area for increasing efficiency, the response was clear:

  • An overwhelming 63% are concentrating on optimising asset utilisation.
  • 27% are focused on real-time asset tracking and monitoring.

These results resonate deeply with Orcoda’s mission to empower businesses with the tools and strategies needed to overcome these very challenges.

Practical Insights and Solutions

Simon Anthonisz emphasized that while cost reductions are elusive, increasing operational efficiencies is paramount. He highlighted how leading companies are adopting technology and reviewing business processes to move the same amount of freight with fewer assets and drivers. Adam Woods’ experience at Northline provided a tangible example of how embracing technology for route optimisation, improving visibility, and data-driven analysis can lead to significant cost efficiencies and improved driver performance.
